I have experience with brand strategy, identity design systems, and brand research and development. My background in cultural studies, art, social justice, education, and activism set me apart as a designer with passion and a purpose.

Education
I completed my masters degree with distinction from California State University Northridge. My research culminated in a double thesis-project that included a full written thesis, original art, and exhibition. I also hold a B.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, and have studied fine art and photography at the Instituto Allende in Mexico.

Experience & Clients
I have worked coast to coast to support large-scale global marketing and advertising initiatives, brand development firms, emerging media think tanks, and academic research initiatives to craft compelling experiences through design. Some of the creative teams I have joined include MTV, McCann Erickson, IPG MediaBrands, RadarWorks, PixInk, Sargent & Berman, and MonacoLange, among others. I have also collaborated on several magazine launches and re-designs with two of the world's largest and most successful magazine publishers; Time Inc. (People and Cosmo) and Hearst Magazines (InStyle, YourLook, TuVida, and Heart's Custom Publishing)).

As an independent designer, I have lead creative work for: Disney, Yahoo!, USC, UCLA's Orthopedic Institute for Children, California State University, LA Public Library, the County of Santa Clara, GuideStar, McCann Erickson, IPG MediaBrands, Edelman PR, Rogers & Cowan, Transamerica, Los Angeles Business Journal, California Association of Realtors, and Ergobaby, among others.

Fine Art
I was born in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, yet I grew up in central Pennsylvania. Therefore, I have consistently journeyed back to my birthplace, examining my layered identity while traveling and exploring the span of my native land. These solo journeys, many at a young age, influenced me and my artwork significantly.
My work expresses my vivencias (lived experiences) and the paradoxes of my identity as a multidisciplinary and multiethnic artist. My pieces investigate fluid identity negotiations, mestiza and hybrid consciousnesses, feminist aesthetics, and the Chicana art sensibility: Domesticana. My techniques often incorporate collage (layering discarded elements, collected specimens, photographs, and textures), echoing a woven and complex identity. Many of my pieces reference this braided identity using traditional women’s work such as sewing and working with fabric and decorative elements. This is a direct influenced by both of my grandmothers on both sides of the border. In this way, my work acts as sutures to the fractured experiences of women, Chicanas, and multiracial individuals; much like the healing qualities of Chicana feminists work. It is my intention that my intimate pieces narrate my vivencias through images, stories, and domestic tools and materials.
